Subtraction -

x - 7y = - 42

-x + 3y = - 6

- 4y = - 48

⇒ y = 48/4

⇒ y = 12

Putting the value of y in (i),

x - 7y = - 42

⇒ x - 84 = - 42

⇒ x = - 42 + 84

⇒ x = 42

Hence,

Age if Aftab = 42 years
