Before 4 years, his age = x-4

After 12 years, age = x + 12 years

According to question,

3(x-4) = x + 12

=>3x-12 = x + 12

=>2x = 24

=>x = 12

So, his present age is 12 years

We can take the present age of Manoj as 'x'. The question then says that after 12 years, Manoj will be three times more of his age as he was 4 years ago.
Age after 12 years = x + 12
Age 4 years ago = x - 4
Age will be 3 times as old as he was 4 years ago = 3(x - 14)
                                                                                    = 3x - 12

x + 12 = 3x - 12
12 = 12 =3x + 12
24 = 2x
24/2 = x
12 = x

Therefore his current age is 12
