After Twenty Years" tells the story of two friends who made a pact to meet at a specific time and place. Bob, a noted criminal from Chicago, arrives on time and speaks to a policeman who happens to be walking by. Later, it's revealed that this policeman was Jimmy Wells, Bob's friend.

It is a story based on friendship of two friends .It has three characters Jimmy ,Bob ,plain clothed man.This story begins with a police men who is walking in a street and casting his watchful eye .There was no one in the street except a man (Bob) .He was standing in front of a store with unlighted cigar in his mouth .The policeman walked to him he said its alright and he is waiting for his friend whom he promised to meet after twenty years he described about his friend. Suddenly, a plain clothed man came and described him as Jimmy . After some time they came to a store with lights and Bob said you are not Jimmy as twenty years is a long time but not long enough to change a man nose .He said everything changes even a good man to a bad one .Hence to conclude police men was real jimmy who wanted to arrest Bob cleverly
