The percentage of increase in 1st salary is 20% , second 40% and third 80%.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given data:

Successive rise in salary = 378/125 of initial salary

Now break the term 378 into its factors.

378 = 6 x 63 = 6 x 7 x 9

similarly break the term 125 into its factors.

125 = 5 x 5 x 5

So, (1 + 1/5) (1 + 2/5) (1 + 4/5)

1/5 = 20%, 2/5 = 40% and 4/5 = 80%

Thus the percentage of increase in 1st salary is 20% , second 40% and third 80%.
