Let the age of the father be x
Let the age of the son be y
After 5 years Fathers age will be 5+x
After 5 years sons age will be 5+y
Now,
(5+x)= 3(5+y)-----1
X-y= 7(y-5)------2
Solve 1 and 2
5+8y-35=15+3y
5y=50
Y=10
And x=40
Fathers present age = 40 years
Sons present age = 10 years
Hope this helps
