As from the question, we consider father’s age is F and children’s age is C.

Let’s go to find the father’s age.

Initial equation is,

F = 3 C ————————— >>> (A)

After 5 years, the equation will be,

(F+5) = (3C+15)

(here 15 is the total of age increased for each children)

But, after 5 years father’s age is 6/7. So,

(F+5) = (3C+15) x 6/7

to be clear,

(F+5) = [(3C+15) x 6] / 7

7 x (F+5) = (3C+15) x 6

this is turned to following equation as per (A)

7 x (F+5) = (F+15) x 6

now, multiplied equation is,

7F + 35 = 6F + 90

rearranging into the following,

7F - 6F = 90 - 35

simply,

F = 55.

So,

The father is 55 years old now.
