Answer :

Rs.1600 (Selling Price)

Rs.80 (Discount)

Explanation;

Selling Price: x

Marked Price: Rs.1672

Discount: 5%

VAT : 10% after discount

________________________________

Equation:

According to the question

----------------

x - 5/100x = 95x

10% Of 95x = 9.5x

95x + 9.5x = 104.5x

104.5x = Rs.1672

1045/1000x(Removing the decimal)

1045/1000x = Rs.1672

1045x = 1672 * 1000

1045x = 1672000x

x= 1672000/1045

= 1600

x is Rs. 1600

Now , we know that x is Rs. 1600

We need the discount amount

5% of x

= 5/100 * 1600

=Rs.80

Answer. The discount amount is Rs.80

Hope so it helps
