Answer:

let cost price =CP%= x rs

we know gain is 5% of CP , i.e. 5x/100=x/20 rs

so selling price = CP + x/20 = x+x/20= (20x+x)/20=21x/20 rs

we know selling price comes after giving 16%discount in marked price

let marked price = y rs

16% of y=16y/100=4y/25 rs

selling price= marked price- discount

SP=y- 4y/25=(25y-4y)/25=21y/25 rs

compare it with SP calculated above i.e. with SP=21x/20 rs

so we get, 21x/20=21y/25

x/20=y/25

x/4=y/5

y=5x/4

percentage of money more than CP

%=(y-x)100/x,put above value of y

=( 5x/4 -x)100/x=(5x-4x)100/4x

= x(100)/4x=25%
