after cutting the wheat crop and beginning to rice crop,farmers row a Leguminous crop such as dal or lentil or pea in between.Why?please explain in 3 or 4 sentences

leguminous plants have nitrogen fixing bacteria at their root nodules. these bacteria take atmospheric nitrogen and convert it into nitrous compounds which are useful to plant thus increasing the soil fertility. this helps in the growth of other plant grown with leguminous plant.
