Distance of destination from his home. = 375 km

Step-by-step explanation:

Let say total Distnce  = D  km

Speed  =  S  km/hr

Time to be taken = D/S

After driving for 3 h 30 min from home Rishi increased his speed by 20% and thus reached his destination 1.5 hr. before

Distance covered in  3 h 30 min (3.5 hrs)  =  3.5S

Remaining Distance  = (D - 3.5S)

Increased speed  =  S + (20/100)S = 1.2S

Time taken further  =  (D - 3.5S)/1.2S

D/S  -  1.5 =   3.5  + (D - 3.5S)/1.2S

=> D/S = 5 + (D - 3.5S)/1.2S

=> 1.2D = 6S +  D - 3.5S

=> 0.2D = 2.5S

=> D/S  = 12.5

he would have increased his speed after travelling further 90 km he would have reaches his destination 1 hr. before

=> 90/S  - 0.5  =  90/1.2S

=> 108 - 0.6S = 90

=> 0.6S = 18

=>S = 30

D/S = 12.5

=> D = 30 * 12.5

=> D = 375  km

Distance of destination from his home. = 375 km
