Hi

X×8/100+x=151200

X×8/100=151200-x

By transposing 100 in to RHS

8x=15120000-100x

108x=15120000

X=15120000/108

X=140000

old salary=x
new salary=x+x*8%
new salary=151200
x(1 + r)  = y \\ x = old \: amount \\ r = rate \: persent \\ y = new \: amount

x+x*8/100=151200
x+x*2/25=151200
x+x*1/12.5=151200
x(1+1/12.5)=151200
x(13.5/12.5)=151200
x(27/25)=151200
x=151200*25/27
x=756000*5/27
x=3780000/27
x=1260000/9
x=420000/3
x=1,40,000
