Answer:

The Profit percentage is 25%.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : After giving a discount of 40% on an article, there is still a profit of 25%. If no discount is given.

To find : What will be the profit percentage?

Solution :

Let the marked price be = Rs. 100.

A discount of 40% on an article

The selling price is

SP = 100 - 40\% \text{ of } 100

SP = 100 - \frac{40}{100}\times 100

SP = 100 - 40

SP =60

Profit = 25%.

Let the cost price be 'x',

Selling price = Rs.60

SP=\frac{100+P\%}{100}\times CP

60=\frac{100+25}{100}\times x

60=\frac{125}{100}\times x

x=\frac{60\times100}{125}

x=48

The cost price is Rs.48.

Profit on article is P=SP-CP

P=60-48=Rs.12

Profit percentage is given by,

P\%=\frac{P}{CP}\times 100

P\%=\frac{12}{48}\times 100

P\%=25\%

Therefore, The Profit percentage is 25%.
