Total journey = x km
Journey covered=3/4of x= 3x/4
Journey left=x-3x/4= (4x-3x)/4 = x/4
Given: 3/4 of journey is 16 km
3x/4 =16
x= (16*4)/3 = 64/3 km
Total journey= 64/3 km
Journey left = x/4 = (64/3)/4 = (64/3)*(1/4) = 16/3 km------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------16/3 km journey is left-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hope this will help you.....

HEYA!
You covered 3/4 th part of your journey
=> If your journey is divided into 4 equal parts, you already covered 3 parts which actually were equal to : 16 km
=> Three-fourth of the Journey is 16 km
=> Mathematically : [ 3 / 4 ] D = 16
=> D = ( 64 ) / 3
=> You are left with only 1 part of the journey
=> Left Part = ( 1 / 4 ) D = [ 1 / 4 ] [ 64 / 3 ]
= [ 16 / 3 ] km

♦ Hence, he actually had to walk : [ 64 / 3 ]km
• Journey still left = [ 16 / 3 ] km
