Percentage of the money left after incurring the loss:

100 - 25 = 75%

Find the amount of money he originally had:

75% = 18000

1% = 18000 ÷ 75 = Rs 240

100% = 240 x 100 = Rs 24,000

Answer: He had Rs 24,000 originally.

Given

Loss = 25%

Rupees = 18000

Finding the amount

= 100 - 25% = 75 %

= 100/75 x 18000

= 24000.

Alternative method

100 - 25 = 75 %

if 75 % = 18000

then 25 % = ?

= 25 x 18000 / 75

=450000/75

= 6000

Total = 18000 + 6000 = 24000.
