1) The quality depends upon masses. If masses is educated and aware result will be good. Else disaster follows. Ex: Pakistan.
(2) All people are not same yet carry equal voting weightage. How can Rahul Gandhi and Dr. Kalamazoo (late) used to have equal weight. There is sea difference between them in terms of vision, experience and intellect.
(3) Since democracy is built on numbers, the elected representatives tend to choose what is popular over what is right. A lot of governments have populist policies including Delhi government.
(4) Politicians resort to minority appeasement and caste politics as it is easy for them to target bigger or consolidated votes. Ex: SP, BSP etc.
(5) If a democracy is not republic (does not follow rule of law) the outcome could be tyranny of the majority. EX: Saudi Arabia
