After N , atomic size increases for O and decreases for F ,Why?

Atomic size decreases across a period (as effective nuclear charge increase).


(NOTE: Do not take inert gases in the consideration)

goyoolka: Exactly! Size of N is smaller than O. So we know that N has half filled electronic configuration. So N is more stable. Since N is stable it will have more effective nuclear charge meaning its atomic size decreases (atomic size is inversely proportional to effective nuclear charge).
