Let the Marked price be 100
so after discount of 30 % , SP= 100−30% of 100
=100−30/100*100
= 70

=>  now profit = 30 % so let CP is x so

x+30% of x = 70
 x+30x/100= 70

130x/100= 70 so x = 700/13

700/13 now if the discount is 40% the SP
= 100−40% of 100 = 100−40/100×100= 60

So, CP= 700/13 and SP = 60

so \: here \: profit \: \:  =  \frac{60 -  \frac{700}{13} }{ \frac{700}{13} } \times 100   =  \frac{780 - 700}{700}  \times 100 \\  \\  =  \frac{80}{7}  = 11.42 \:  \: \% \: profit
