As a guy who studied science but became more interested in religion, my conclusion is that both complement each other. I cannot go into much detail here. But let me state a couple of points. The Big Bang doesn't explain the origin of matter. It is a theory about how the universe came into being. There is a cause and an effect. That matter exists is an effect. What would be the cause? Who created matter? The only possible explanation is that something which is uncreated is behind the creation of matter. Evolution is a theory of how a primitive unicellular organism evolved into complex organisms and then into apes to human beings. The problem is that, if the Big Bang really occurred then the immense heat would have sterilized everything with no chance of formation of any kind of life forms. If, due to chance, a unicellular organism was formed, it would evolves into only one not millions of species of microorganisms, plants, birds, fish, animals and mankind. And finally, we cannot explain how evolution can create living creatures in pairs of male and female. Science, as I see it is a gift of God and we are only trying to understand the creations of God better and better.
For exploitations on both science and religion, Google my articles on "How do we know that God exists?" This is based on both scientific and religious views.
