After the death of Guru Gobind Singh, the leadership of Sikhs passed on Banda Bahadur. Banda was a soldier and martyr who started the Khalsa Panth or the fighting class amongst Sikhs.
He fought bravely with his followers and drove Mughals and Afghans out of Greater Punjab.
He was finally executed in 1716 by the Mughal emperors when he refused to accept Islam.
