Answer:

After WWII, two rival blocs were formed USA(Capitalist bloc) and Soviet Union, now Russia(Communist bloc). There was fierce economic tension between the two but no armed conflict. Both had difference in opinion regarding what their bloc is about. One hated capitalism and the other communism. People were afraid since both of them were currently the world power and after the Hiroshima-Nagasaki atom bomb drop, people were scared of yet another catastrophic event. Russia believed the methods of USA as farce, only meant for rich people whereas USA promoted individual liberty and freedom unlike democracy. This differences caused a great political tension with the world standing on the brink of collapse.

HOPE THIS HELPS :)
