In the afternoon the sun is exactly overhead so the light has to travel the least which resists it's scattering hence it's white in colour because all the colours of light rays reach the Earth's surface in equal amounts but on the contrary in the morning the light has to travel the most so the colour of light rays which reaches the Earth's surface is red because it has the longest wavelength therefore afternoon has greater illumination than morning sun light
