Age of a father is three times as much as his son when the age of son is 16 years. Find the age of son , when the age of his fathervis 40 years.

Find the age of the father when his son is 16:

Father = 3(16) = 48 years old

Find the number of years ago that his father was 40 years old:

48 - 40 = 8 years ago

Find the son's age 8 years ago:

16 - 8 = 8 years old

Answer: His son was 8 years old when the father was 40 years old.

Age of  son = 16 years

Age of  Father = 3×Age  of  son = 3×16=48

Now,

let the age  of  father was  40 years before x  year.

So,

48 - x = 40

x = 8 years .

Present  age  of son   = 16 years,

Hence, Age  of son  before  8 years = 16 - 8  = 8 years.
