The age of a father is twice the age of his son.

Let the son’s age be x hence father's age 2x

Twenty years ago, his age was 6 times his son's age.

20 years ago their ages were x - 20 and 2x - 20

2x - 20 = 6 (x - 20)

On solving the equation

2x - 20 = 6x - 120

2x - 6x = -120 + 20

--4x = —100

x = 100/4

x = 25 years

Sons age is 25 years

Now father age, 2x = 2 × 25 = 50 years.

Answer Son's present age is 25 years and father's present age is 50 years

\huge \bf \underline{ \underline{Solution}}

X = age of son

2x = age of father

Father is 16 years older than son.

Therefore,

2x = x + 16

x = 16

Father's age = 32

Son's age = 16
