Let ages of Ramesh and Mahesh be x and y respectively, where x > y.

By the given conditions,

• x - y = 20 ..... (i)
• x - 4 = 2 (y - 4) ..... (ii)

From (i), we get

x = y + 20

Putting x = y + 20 in (ii), we get

y + 20 - 4 = 2y - 8

or, y = 24

Then x = 44.

Therefore ages of Ramesh and Mahesh are 28 years and 8 years respectively.
