To find:

If there is a catalyst in the following Reaction?

Solution:

The required balanced Reaction between silver nitrate and sodium chloride is as follows:

\boxed{\sf{AgNO_{3}+NaCl\longrightarrow AgCl+NaNO_{3}}}

Now , the products of this reaction are:

  • AgCl : Silver Chloride

  • NaNO3 : Sodium nitrate

So, we can clearly understand that the above reaction is a double displacement reaction which has the following characteristics:

  • It doesn't require any catalyst

  • It produces the white precipitate of silver chloride.

  • This reaction is not a redox reaction.

Hence, catalyst is not required.

  • Remember this as a thumb rule: Majorityof the double displacement reaction do not require any catalyst.
