Enumeration of key persons was also done by census officials in Madhubani District of Bihar. In 2011, Madhubani had population of 4,476,044 of which male and female were 2,324,984 and 2,151,060 respectively. There was change of 25.19 percent in the population compared to population as per 2001. In the previous census of India 2001, Madhubani District recorded increase of 26.08 percent to its population compared to 1991.  The initial provisional data suggest a density of 1,279 in 2011 compared to 1,021 of 2001. Total area under Madhubani district is of about 3,501 sq. km. Average literacy rate of Madhubani in 2011 were 60.90 compared to 41.97 of 2001.
