Agrochemical are pollutants like pesticides and fertilisers. They not only change chemical properties of soil, but also affect soil organisms surface water and ground water resources.

a) pesticides :- these are chemicals used in killing pathogens, pests and unwanted growth in agriculture. Most pesticides are broad spectrum, killing most of organisms, so called biocides.

They are mainly of 3 types:-

  • Chlorinated Hydrocarbon
  • Organopesticides
  • Weedicides

b) fertilisers :- they are concentrated chemicals which are added to soil or sprayed over plants to provide the required essential minerals.
