Hi Mahika Ji.

Here is your answer,

The distance travelled by A from N in 't' hours must be equal to 400 km. The distance from M from 't' in N hours.

So, therefore 60 × t = 400 - 40(t) 

    ⇒ 100t = 400t

 Therefore, t = 4 hours.

Now, the distance travelled by A in 4 hours 
 
          
⇒ 60 × 

          ⇒ 240 km
     And the distance travelled by B in 4 hours 

         
⇒ × 40

         
⇒ 160 km

 240 + 160 = 400 KM.
