Aim :

To prepare beetroot extract and test for acidity or basicity of the compounds.

Lemon water is acidic in nature cuz, it contains citric acid. ( C6H8O7 )

And baking soda is basic in nature.

Test for acidic or basic nature of compounds

• Vinegar • baking soda

1) Vinegar and baking soda is added in test tube A and B respectively,

2) To each of the test tube few drops of beetroot indicator was added, and colour change was observed.

Observations ;

Test tube A containing vinegar - No colour change

Test tube B containing Baking soda - colour change into yellow.

Conclusions ;

Test tube A' s colour didn't changed it means Vinegar is acidic in nature,

while The colour of test tube is changed from red to yellow so baking soda is basic in nature.

Note : The colour of beetroot indicator is red.
