The government of Telangana initiated a program called as Mission Kakatiya to restore all the minor irrigation tanks and lakes of the state. The main objective of this mission is to increase the development of agriculture-based income for marginal and small peasants, by stimulating the expansion of minor flooding infrastructure, establishing community-based flooding systems and approving a comprehensive plan for the restoration of tanks.
