AIM : To observe the cells.

MATERIALS REQUIRED : Root, blade, petridish, water, slide, brush, stain, water glass, needle, covering glass, glycerine, tissue paper, microscope.

PROCEDURE : Thin pieces of the cross section of root are taken from the water using the brush and transferred to the water in the watch glass.

The thinner pieces are selected and transferred into another watch glass and added two drops of stain. After two minutes the excess stain from the cross section is washed away and then it is placed in the glycerine on the glass slide. The piece of cross section is closed air tight using cover glass. The excess glycerine is wiped out by the tissue paper and then the slide is placed on the stage of the microscope. Looking through the eyepiece the knob is turned slowly to get the clear image.

OBSERVATIONS : We got an enlarged vision of different cells. When observed through 10x lenses he sew the full and enlarged cross section. When observed through 45x lens a part of the section is found much enlarged. We could not see the cross section completely.

INFERENCE : The plant body is made up of different kinds of cells. When we 'x' increase the size of the image also increase.
