AIM:
to study displacement reaction and compare the reactivity of metals.
MATERIALS REQUIRED :
Copper sulphate, iron fillings, zinc granules, ferrous sulphate solution, zinc sulphate
solution, three test tubes.
PROCEDURE:
Take three test tubes and mark it as A, B, C.
(ii) In test tube A add copper sulphate solution and iron.
In test tube B add copper sulphate solution and zinc.
(iv) In test tube C add ferrous sulphate solution and copper. observation: test tube A , test tube B, test tube C

Answer:

In test tube A the blue colour of CuSo4 solution fades due to formation of iron sulphate. Since iron has more reactivity than copper it displaces it.

In test tube B the blue colour of CuSo4 solution fades due to formation of zinc sulphate. Zinc is more reactive than copper hence displaces it.

In test tube C no reaction occurs as copper is less reactive than ferrous and hence cannot displace it.
