Aim:

To study fermentation of sugar into alcohol by the action of yeast.

Materials required:

sugar, cups, lukewarm water, yeast

Procedure:

Take lukewarm water in a cup and add 3-4 teaspoons of sugar to it. Stir it well. Now, add half teaspoon of yeast to this solution. Cover the cup and keep it undisturbed for about 5-6 hours. After the said time, open the lid. You will smell alcohol. The yeast, that we added, fermented the sugar in the cup and converted into alcohol.
