To conduct multi-disciplinary assessments of boards of directors with a view to improving their performance over a period of time, and at intervals, appropriate to their particular needs.

To identify areas for improvement in the performance of the board and to advise on the measures designed to achieve that improvement.

To provide guidance and advice to individual board members, and to the board as a whole, on behavioural issues.

To contribute to the knowledge and practice of director and board performance through practical research and knowledge dissemination.

An effective Board of Directors is essential to the long-term success of any institution, both in the public and private sectors. In the private sector this has been recognised in a succession of reports on Corporate Governance – the Cadbury, Greenbury, Hampel and Higgs reports, and incorporated in the Combined Code on Corporate Governance.
