The main goals of Forest Conservation Act 1980

  2. To protect the integrity, territory and individuality of the forests.
  3. To protect the forests and prevent deforestation that will lead to land erosion and subsequent degradation of the land.

Forest conservation act was made to raise the standard of living the people living near the forest and to conserve natural resources of the forest.

The main objective of the Indian Forest Act (1927) was to secure exclusive state control over forests to meet the demand for timber. Most of these untitled lands had traditionally belonged to the forest dwelling communities.
