  • Nutrition is the essential organic nutrients living organisms require for growth, maintenance, reproduction and repair. This is an essential process for the organism’s survival.
  • Animals are heterotrophs and are divided into three categories; herbivores, carnivores and omnivores depending on how they obtain their food.
  • Herbivores: eat mainly plant material, seeds or fruit. Omnivores: eat both vegetable and animals, whereas carnivores eat animal meat.

Hey mate!

Nutrition is very important for the survival of the living organisms.

Every living organism requires energy to carry out life processes.

The energy is provides by carbohydrates such as glucose, starch, etc.

Our muscles require amino acids and proteins(Which is necessary for the strength of cell membrane and for the cytoplasmic reactions). These we get through food.

We require fat(excess of which is stored in our adipose tissues). The units of fats are fatty acids and glycerol which is necessary for the formation of various body fluids for example wbc, plasma, synovial fluid, etc.

We even require cholesterole.(Good cholesterole which is a type of lipid). We require it for the elasticity of the cell membrane of our cells...In this way we require all the things which we eat in our daily life including vitamins,Minerals, etc for various life processes.
