Air brakes used air pressure to apply a brake.Air storage tank are there in which air is compressed with the help of compressor which get it's power from the engine, as soon as the driver of the vehicle put his force to the brake padal the air from the air storage tank flows into the cylinder which help in pushing the piston down the cylinder result in the application of brakes. hence the pressure of air used to stop the vehicle.
