Air contains 21% oxygen by volume. Determine the theoretical volume of the air required to burn completely 400 cubic meters of ethene gas .

One cubic meter of ethene=3 cubic meter of oxygen.

400 cubic meter of ethene = 3×400 cubic meter of oxygen

=1200 cubic meter of O2

Hence quantity of air required = 100×1200/21=5714.3 cubic metre.
