Air holes of a gas burner have to be adjusted when the heated vessels get blackened by the flame. Give reason.

The blackening of the vessels indicate sooty flame due to incomplete combustion of the fuel . Air (oxygen )is necessary for complete combustion. The air holes of the gas burner provide air for combustion and they have to be adjusted so that a blue and non-sooty flame is produced.
