Air moves from a region of high pressure to a region of low pressure.

When hot air rises up, the cold air comes down to take its place.

So the flow of wind is seen from areas where it's colder to areas where it's warmer.

If the distance between the high and low pressure areas is small, the speed of the wind will be more.
