\huge\text{Answer - }

[ Important note - Hi! I think there is some mistake in the figure if the answers are ajay = 49m and rahul = 41m ]

like see the figure (1) that I have provided !

now, we can find the answer,

Now see the figure (2)

by which we can state that,

Distance Covered by Ajay - AB + BC

: \Longrightarrow\sf{ 40 + 9}

: \Longrightarrow\sf \bold{ 49}m

and

Distance Covered by Rahul - AC

we will find the distance covered bye rahul by Applying the Pythagorean theorem ,

: \Longrightarrow\sf{  {AC}^{2}= {BC}^{2} +  {AB}^{2} }

: \Longrightarrow\sf{  {AC}^{2}= {40}^{2} +  {9}^{2} }

: \Longrightarrow\sf{  {AC}^{2}=1600+  81 }

: \Longrightarrow\sf{  {AC}^{2}=1681 }

: \Longrightarrow\sf{  {AC}  = \sqrt{16 81} }

: \Longrightarrow\sf{  {AC}  = 41 }

: \Longrightarrow\sf \bold{ 41}m
