Ajay and sita are two of Mr.kumars children.ajay has half as many brothers as
sisters.sita has as many brothers as sisters. Find the number of children Mr.kumar
has ?

hey dude,

By framing the equations and solving, we get the number of sons as 3 and the number of daughters as 4.
So, total children is 7.

the equations formed will be
X+0.5X=y
y+y=x
On solving these 2 you get
y=3
x=4
Ans=X+Y=7

Ajay and sita are two of Mr. kumars children

Ajay has half as many brothers as  sisters

Sita has as many brothers as sisters

To Find :

Total number of children

Solution :

Let The number of boys = x

Let The number of girls = y

According to question

From statement I

Ajay has half as many brothers as  sisters

i.e   x + \dfrac{x}{2}  = y

Or,  x + 0.5 x = y

Or,  1 . 5 x = y                .............1

And

From statement II

Sita has as many brothers as sisters

i.e   y + y = x  

Or,  2 y = x                 ..............2

Solving eq 1 and eq 2

      \dfrac{3x}{2}+ 2 x = y

i.e  2 y = 7 x

Or, Number of girls = sita + number of boys

                                = sita + 3

                                = 4

Number of boys = Ajay + half of sister

                           = Ajay + 2

                          = 3

So, From the condition it is clear that,

Total number of children =  boys + girls

                                            = 7

Hence, The number of children Mr. kumar  has is 7 . Answer
