Ajay and Vikas are sharing a
flat in Delhi, with an
arrangement of equally
dividing the household
expenses. Ajay went to
Pune, where a sale was
going on and bought
batteries for the house, with
Rs. 150 on 20% discount.
But he lost them on his way
back and had to buy new
ones, after he reached Delhi.
How much did he end up
spending on the batteries?

Answer:

₹195

Step-by-step explanation:

1st Case ---- Buying batteries in PUNE

Given ----

(i) Marked Price = ₹150

(ii)Discount % = 20%

Then ---

Sales Price =  150 - (150*20/100)=150-30=₹120

Important Point -- Because he bought the batteries in PUNE he will have to bear the whole price himself......

Case 2-----Buying in DELHI

Then,

Marked Price = ₹150

Discount% will be 0 as the sale was only in Pune and not in Delhi.......

Therefore the price will be ₹150 but because he is buying it in Delhi, he will get half of the money back that is he will get ₹75 back from Vikas.

Case 3---- Total Money

The total money AJAY will have to bear will be ₹120+₹75=₹195

Remember that the question is asking for only the price that Ajay will have to bear so we took ₹120 because he had to bear it all by himself because he bought it outside of Delhi & ₹75 as he would get the half of the money he spent in Delhi.....................

Hope it helps
