ajay can complete a piece of work in 10 days. he works for 4 days and then khetan joins him and they together can complete the work in two days. how long can khetan working alone can complete the piece of work

GIVEN:

Ajay alone time to complete work = 10 days

he already worked for 4 days

khetan join after 4 days and both completed works in next two days.

To find:

let amount of work needed to be done is x

ajay work in one day is x/10 work.

therefore ajay completed work in four days is

4 × x/10

=4x/10

therefore remaining work is

x -4x/10

=6x/10

=3x/5

now assume that khetan alone doing these work in y days.

so khetan work speed in one day is x/y

so both together work

 \frac{3x}{5}  = ( \frac{x}{10}  +  \frac{x}{y} ) \times 2

 \frac{3}{5 }  = ( \frac{2}{10}  +  \frac{2}{y} )

 \frac{4}{10 }  =  \frac{2}{y}

y = 5

Solution:

so khetan alone can complete piece of work in 5 days.
