Let the mark of Vatsal be :x.

Since, Ajay’s mark is 20% less than that of Vatsal, the mark of Ajay is as follows:

Ajays marks=         (100−20)%of Vatsal⇒

Ajays marks=  80/100×x⇒Ajays marks=0.80x

Percent increase in marks of Vatsal = marks of Vatsal - marks of Ajay/marks of Ajay×100

⇒Percent increase in marks of Vatsal = x−0.8x/0.80x×100

Percent increase in marks of Vatsal = 0.2x/0.80x×100

Percent increase in marks of Vatsal = 0.25×100

⇒Percent increase in marks of Vatsal = 25%
