10(2\pirh +  \pi r^{2})cm^{2} paper is required for covering 10 pen stands.

Given:

Radius = r

Height = h

Number of stands = 10

To find:

Paper required = ?

Solution:

Since, we are supposed to find paper required to cover the stand we will have to find the lateral or curved surface area of cylinder and area of base as pen stand will be open from upper side.

Formula to be used:

Curved surface area = 2\pirh.

Area of base = \pi r^{2}.

Paper needed for one cylinder = 2\pirh +  \pi r^{2}.

Since, Ajay has 10 cylindrical pen stands he would need 10(2\pirh +  \pi r^{2}).

Therefore, 10(2\pirh +  \pi r^{2})cm^{2} paper is required for covering 10 pen stands.
