For Ajay, the item is being sold for Rs. 666.

Given:

The article was sold to Ankit from Ajay for a profit at 23.335

Ankit sold it to Raju for Rs 720.

This article was again sold to Ramesh by Raju at a 5% profit.

Cost price of an article for Ramesh is 40% more the original cost price.

To find:

The selling price of article for Ajay = ?

Solution:

If Raju bought the article from Ankit for Rs. 720 and sold it to Ramesh at 5% profit, Raju sold for 720 + 36 = Rs. 756.

Now if the cost price of this article is 40% more than the original cost price, that makes,

original cost price + 40%(CP) = 756

Let original cost price = a

a + 40%(a) = 756

a + \frac{40}{100}(a) = 756

\frac{100 a + 40 a}{100} = 756

140 a = 75600

a =  75600/140

a = 540

a = original cost price =Rs. 540.

This means Ajay bought the article for Rs. 540

If he sold at 23.33% profit, then,

= 540 + 125.98

= 665.98

Cost price of the article to Ajay = Rs. 540

Selling price of the article for Ajay is 665.98 ≈ Rs. 666.

∴Selling price of the article for Ajay is Rs. 666.
