Ajay wants to buy a trapezium shaped field. Its side along the river is parallel and twice the side along the road. If the area of this field is 10000 m2 and the perpendicular distance between the two parallel sides is 200 m, find the length of the side along the river.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the parallel sides of the trapezium-shaped field be x mtr. and 2x mtr.

Let a=x and b=2x and h=200m

Then, its area.

1/2(a+b)×h m²

1/2(x+2x)× 200 m²

100×3x m²

= 300x m².

But it is given that the area of the field is 10000 m²

Therefore, 300x = 10000

x= 10000/3 = 33.3

Hence length of side along the river = 2× 33.3

= 66.6 m
