Akbar and Birbal liked each other a lot. Akbar liked to spend time with
Birbal. Once Akbar asked Birbal, “Birbal, can you tell me how many
bangles your wife wears?
Birbal said I'm sorry, Your Majesty, I just don't know how many
bangles she wears.
‘You are a strange man, Birbal' said Akbar. "Everyday you see your
wife. She serves your food. Have you never seen how many bangles she
wears?
'Come ,your Majesty', said Birbal, let's go to the garden."
They walked down a short staircase and went into the garden. Then
Birbal said, 'Your Majesty, how many stairs does this staircase have?
'I don't know, Birbal, 'said Akbar.
‘Your Majesty, you come down the stairs every day. How is it that you
don't know how many stairs there are in this staircase?
