Akbar extended his friendship towards the Rajput. He had promised the rajputs that he would permit them to rule peacefully if they had acknowldeged the Mughal authority

- Akbar realized that Rajput was most worthy of confidence, as the deceit was alien to them. Once the Rajputs befriended anybody they would never betray them. Akbar was sure if he extended the hand of friendship, he could rely on them when needed
- Like a wise statesman, he was persuaded that the Hindus comprised most of the population, and that the Rajputs were the champions of Hinduism. And he wanted their assistance in building a powerful empire.

- Akbar was an expansionist and imperialist. He knew that the Rajput rulers were not united. He used this to his advantage to exercise his power & control. Aggression & diplomacy had proved helpful to Akbar.
- Many Rajput states were very close to Delhi and the Rajput rulers were in danger of attacking. Accordingly, Akbar took a friendly approach towards Rajput. Akbar's been a national ruler. He did not want to give the impression that the Mughal rule was a foreign rule. He extended his friendship to Rajput
